Before looking for an expected payment, review the payments, messages and application information in your own My Service Canada Account. The next page gives a GIS check of those OAS dashboard areas before October 28.
You stay on this website. No payment required.
Start in the Old Age Security section
Sign in to My Service Canada Account and open the Old Age Security area of the dashboard. Canada.ca directs people to select “Apply for Old Age Security and manage my benefits” from there. This is the relevant account area for OAS services and for reviewing benefit information connected with your OAS record.

Look at payments and account messages separately
In the OAS dashboard, Canada.ca says to use the Payments section and select “All payments” to view and print payment information. Check the Follow up item(s) and Notifications sections as a separate step. Those sections can show whether documentation is needed to complete an application and can provide application updates.
- Sign in Open My Service Canada Account and choose the Old Age Security section.
- Review payments Open Payments, then select All payments and review the information shown for your record.
- Review messages Check Follow up item(s) and Notifications for a request or update.
- Keep a note Write down the date you checked and the question you need answered if something is unclear.
Do not treat a change as a final answer
GIS is tied to individual circumstances. Canada.ca explains that GIS, Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor amounts are recalculated each July using net income from the previous calendar year, and that payments can increase, decrease or stop when annual net income changes. That is why the account view is useful, but it does not replace a decision letter or a conversation with Old Age Security when you need an explanation of a change.
If you recently applied, remember that Canada.ca says your application status is updated in MSCA after a decision is made. An approved decision letter may include the monthly amount and the date of the first payment. If the account does not answer your question, use the official contact option rather than sharing personal account details with an unofficial helper.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I check payment information in MSCA?
On the OAS dashboard, go to the Payments section and select All payments. Canada.ca says this area lets you view and print payment information for payments made after March 17, 2025.
Does a missing GIS item prove I lost eligibility?
No. Review the Payments, Follow up item(s) and Notifications sections, then contact Old Age Security if the account does not explain what you see. Only Service Canada can confirm your file or explain a decision.
Why might a GIS amount change?
Canada.ca says GIS amounts are recalculated each July based on net income from the previous calendar year. Changes in annual net income can increase, decrease or stop payments.
